THANKSGIVING SERVICE AT CHRIST TEMPLE CHURCH
A thanksgiving service will be held at Christ Temple Church, 9020 B Woodyard Road, Clinton MD, 20735 on Thursday, November 28, 2024, beginning at 10:30 am. All are Welcome!
A Special Thanksgiving Service of Praise
Our
Thanksgiving service, held on Thanksgiving,
is a time for people to minister to each other - to give their
testimonies of thanks and to show appreciation for one another.
The entire service is done entirely by the people.
The people express how the Lord has blessed their lives in the past year, their thankfulness
for the way other members have helped them and for the blessings
of family.
It's a time
of openness and sharing. People might read a devotion meaningful
to them, do special readings The First Thanksgiving or read Scripture Selections for Thanksgiving , or lead others
in singing praise songs or special music.
Last year, a young unwed pregnant girl rose to her feet to
thank her parents for loving her and standing by her during
a difficult time.
A
special highlight of the service is when Pastor Malloy administers
the Lord's Supper. We sit at the Lord's table with our
church family before we sit down at the dinner table with
our earthly families. That makes it
a much more meaningful day of the year.
The popularity of the service has a lot to
do with the value of having a tradition. We believe
in connecting memories of the holidays with our church family.
As children grow up, they'll remember it was a special time.
That day will call to mind a positive memory and hopefully
help to keep them close or draw them back to the Lord.
A piece of paper will be included in the
bulletin to allow people to record their thankfulness as a 30-day spiritual journey.
A Bible passage, a provocative question ("Remember a
time when God protected you from something and how that made
you feel"), with blank lines to recount personal blessings
and a closing prayer helped people to explore their reasons
for thankfulness each day. Christ Temple calls itself " the family Church caring for the family of God
." The congregation supports serveral missions, at home and overseas.
Words of appreciation will be given by:
- Elder Donald Malloy Pastor, Christ Temple
- Christ Temple Church "Little Miracles"

WE GATHER TOGETHER - Netherlands folk hymn, translated by
Theodore Baker (1851-1934) - Public Domain
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to His name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
